North Valley Arts Academy at Desert Cove
Whether your child is passionate about dance, drama or visual arts, Desert Cove offers an outlet for your child to express his or her creative passions with a seamless continuation from elementary school through high school.
The North Valley Arts Academies at Desert Cove offers rigorous academics for interested students in 5th and 6th grades, plus a concentrated emphasis on performing and visual arts with multiple entry points.
The North Valley Arts Academies at PVSchools offers a truly integrated program with studies offered at Desert Cove Elementary School, Shea Middle School and Shadow Mountain High School.
“Our goal for the newly formed North Valley Arts Academies at PVSchools is to provide a well-rounded education for 5th-12th grade students with a strong emphasis on the performing and visual arts. As the students advance through the program from elementary to middle to high school, the classes become more intensive allowing students to hone their skills in the arts,” said Dr. Keith Preston, director of Fine Arts Education.
Beginning in the 5th grade, students can specialize, receiving daily instruction in one of three signature programs - dance, drama (theater) or visual arts—a unique element to this program. This instruction is in addition to the core curriculum and specialized programs that are offered at Desert Cove, including the self-contained gifted programs.
The classes are taught at Shea Middle School giving students a seamless transition from the elementary to the middle school program.
