Real-Life Stories Presented by PVWIT

During the Real-Life Stories presentation, women from the PVSchools community and professional IT community in Phoenix will share the intersection of information technologies with their careers and lives through short, power-packed stories.

Each speaker will use a character trait such as perseverance, determination and advocate, to tell their personal story about being a woman working in the IT world. This event will inspire young women to continue to move forward with their IT aspirations while culminating a year of events and opportunities through PVWIT.

Speakers for the event include:

PASSION: Britton Picciolini, regional manager at Google Education
PERSEVERE: Blagica Jovanovic, IT technology specialist for PVSchools
ADVOCATE: Janice Mak, Teacher on Assignment/Administrative Intern at Wildfire Elementary School and Whispering Wind Academy
INSPIRE: Riley Wagner and Daisy Murillo - The Robotics Stingers
DETERMINATION: Jennifer Hoover, director of Women Who Code Phoenix
RESILIENCE: Shivani Misrani, medical student at University of Arizona and former PVSchools student

Registration isn’t required to attend, and the event is open to parents and community members. Can’t make it? The event will be streamed live.

PVWIT was developed by the IT Department in response to Superintendent Dr. James P. Lee's equity and access initiative. The department focuses on gender equity since there is a national challenge recruiting and retaining women in the information technology field.
