About the Principal
Mr. Paul Ferrero
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
As I begin my second year as Vista Verde’s Principal it is my 12th year in education. I am a Phoenix native where I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Multilingual/Multicultural Elementary Education. I continued my education by attending graduate school at Grand Canyon University, earning my master's degree in Education Administration.
As a former middle school math teacher it was great to be back at the middle school after six years at the high school level as an assistant principal. I am excited for changes happening at Vista Verde in order to help all students grow and achieve success. This school year we are implementing a new class period “Enrichment and Intervention” to ensure that all students needs are being met. We are using Response To Intervention (R.T.I.) practices to support this initiative in order to better prepare all Vista Verde students for high school.
At Vista Verde Middle School, there are many opportunities for students to become successful. Our teachers are committed to providing meaningful and engaging instruction. We have strong nationally recognized academic programs with A.V.I.D. (Advancement via Individual Determination) and our International Baccalaureate (M.Y.P.) Programs.
Vista Verde Middle School continues to reinforce Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) to create an environment where expectations for behavior have been clearly communicated, explicitly taught, and positively reinforced by all our faculty and staff. At Vista Verde, our students will be PAWSitive!
Prepared + Accountable + Willing to Participate + Safe = PAWS
Parents, please encourage your son or daughter to expand his/her horizons by participating in as many activities as possible. Research shows that the more a student actively participates and is involved in school, the more academic and personal success he/she will attain during and after school hours.
We will continue to focus on establishing connections with students, teachers, and peers to build a stronger sense of community. This collaboration is essential to have a successful school year. As parents, you expect and deserve the best education possible for your child. Let’s make this school year the best one yet! Please feel free to contact me at (602) 449-5300 or via email if you have any questions or you would just like to introduce yourself.
