Ms. Callies brings over twenty years of experience working with a diverse range of students. She earned both her BS in education and MAED in educational technology from Ottawa University. Her hobbies are exploring nature, photography, and free lance writing. She is the proud mother of four children.  
 
MARIE CHAMPION
Direct Instruction - Student Services 
Grades 9-12 
 
Ms. Champion is Sweetwater’s student services teacher.  She teaches Study/Reference Skills and Mentoring grades 9-12. Marie came from New Hampshire where she taught for many years prior to retiring and moving to Arizona.  She graduated from Boston College with a BA in Elementary Education and received her Masters from Framingham State University. In her leisure time, she enjoys being with her family, traveling, gardening, and playing the piano.

Mr. Davis graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Education. Math classes are not about memorizing formulas but about problem solving. Mr. Davis encourages his students to think for themselves, to persevere, and develop solutions based on their own knowledge and experiences. When not in class, Mr. Davis is always encouraging students to be physically active. He currently trains for half marathons to reach his goal of finishing one race in each state.  

 
 
MARY DEL NEROMary Del Nero

Ms. Del Nero is a native of Arizona receiving her Bachelors of Science from the University of Arizona.  Her passion for teaching began volunteering as a teacher (docent) at the contemporary museum in Los Angeles.  This changed her course in life as a designer in L.A. to continue her education and receive a Master's degree in Education from Arizona State University.  She has been teaching for over twenty years and lives in Phoenix with her husband, who is also an artist, and continues to do commissions in ceramics from her home studio. 

 
    
JOAN HASENOHRLJoan Hasenohrl

Although Ms. Hasenohrl has been an English teacher for quite some time, her excitement for teaching began while working as a computer trainer at Mayo Clinic.  It was then that she decided it was time to pursue her first love--English. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and her master's degree from the University of Phoenix. Some of her interests include learning foreign languages, playing sports, and hiking.

Ms. Hurt recently join the Sweetwater team when our district added a new Pathways Program to our campus.  We are very happy to welcome her to Sweetwater.
 
 
 
 
JOANNE KANTERJoanne Kanter

Ms. Kanter graduated from Arizona State University with her Bachelor's of Science in Tourism and Commercial Recreation. She earned her teaching certificate from the University of Phoenix and her Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from ASU. She has been a teacher for sixteen years; teaching both English and social studies. Ms. Kanter has taught at Greenway Middle School, Pinnacle and Sweetwater High Schools and Arizona State University. Ms. Kanter is married and has one son. Her hobbies include hiking and biking with friends.

Ms. Knight teachers both Men's and Women's Individual Sports classes in the evening. During the day she is teaching physical education classes to elementary school students.   

 
RYAN MCKOWN

Mr. McKown teaches our social studies classes in the evening. He is on staff at Shadow Mountain HS as a social studies teacher during the day.   

 
 
VERONICA MILBURNVeronica Milburn

Ms. Milburn's entire teaching career has been with the Paradise Valley Unified School District. Previously, she has taught at Paradise Valley High School, North Canyon High School, and Explorer Middle School.  She earned her BS in Education from Northern Arizona University and MS in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix.  Ms. Milburn was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and she loves football, especially her Louisiana State University Tigers and New Orleans Saints!
                                                                                                                                                    
 
JORJANN MILLER

Mrs. Miller is longtime teacher in the Paradise Valley Unified School District.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and her master’s degree from Grand Canyon University. Her passion lies in empowering and assisting students toward reaching their full potential. When not teaching, Mrs. Miller enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and cheering on her favorite sports teams -- the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and Phoenix Suns.
 
 
REX MORRISON

Mr. Morrison has taught for a long time in Paradise Valley Unified School District.   He earned his Bachelor and two Master degrees from Northern Arizona University.  Mr. Morrison is married and has two sons. He has a lifelong passion for both playing and coaching sports. He is currently, the manager and short stop of the Arizona Alpha Dawgz, an elite senior softball team. For exercise he enjoys hiking Camelback, Squaw Peak, or the McDowell Mountain Range 3 to 4 times a week. As an avid fan of the TV show Survivor, his wife has been encouraging him to audition for a spot on the island...who knows...maybe one day. 
 
 
MARY MURPHY-TICK

Ms. Murphy-Tick teaches night English classes at Sweetwater CS.  During the day she is on staff at North Canyon HS where she also teaches English.   
 
JULIE OWENS

Ms. Owens teaches night math classes at Sweetwater.  During the day she is on staff at Pinnacle High School where she teaches math.

Mr. Reed has been a social studies teacher since the 2010/2011 school year. He received his Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and is a native of the Buckeye state. He is married and has two children who attend Paradise Valley Unified School District schools. He has been an Arizona resident since 2000. Mr. Reed enjoys spending time with his family, attending church events, travel and anything history related.

 

ERIC ROSENBERG

Ms. Thompson is one of our night high school teachers.  She is on staff at North Canyon High School during the day where she
teaches English.
 
ERIC WEIDEMANN
Lifetime Sports 
Grades 6 - 12 
 
Mr. Weidemann is our physical education teacher.   He currently teaches grades 7-12.  He was born in Albany, New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland.  His passion for teaching started at a very young age and his love for sports began even earlier as he lettered in basketball and baseball in high school and played football in college.   He enjoys spreading his excitement and knowledge of sports to our students. He is married and has two children, a son and daughter.
 
 
DOROTHY WESTREICHDorothy Westreich

Ms. Westreich has been an educator for most of her life and feels passionate about literature and the joys inherent in writing. She has taught in a Montessori preschool, was an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, and a high school teacher in both New York and New Jersey.

Ms. Wold has lived in Phoenix her entire life and attended Northern Arizona University where she dual majored in Marketing and Management and received her Master's degree in Educational Leadership.  For ten years she taught 8th grade science in the Washington School District, then moved to North Canyon High School where she taught Earth sciences.
