Sky Crossing Elementary School Overview
The newest school in the Paradise Valley Unified School District, Sky Crossing Elementary resides in north Phoenix's Sky Crossing community and constitutes approximately 88,500 square feet of land for about 750 students. This energy efficient and environmentally friendly school will open its doors to students at the start of the 2021-22 school year.
Sky Crossing Elementary School (SCRES) feeds into:
- Explorer Middle School
- Mountain Trail Middle School
- Pinnacle High School

Background and Timeline
Following a competitive formal bid process, DLR Group, LLC, was selected as the architectural firm, and CORE Construction Inc. was selected for construction management services. Both organizations worked closely with PVSchools during the entire process, including design, construction, engineering, costs, scheduling, and timeline.
The approximate timeline for the construction of Sky Crossing Elementary went as follows:
Fall 2019: Architect and Builder Selected
January to March 2020: Boundaries Committee
Spring 2020: Break Ground
Fall 2020: Hire Principal
Fall 2020: Principal Selects Cadre
Fall 2020: Develop School Council and PTO
Winter/Spring 2021: School Name and Mascot Selected
Winter/Spring 2021: School Programming (Electives/Specials and Behavior/Citizenship)
May 2021: Office Open for Registration
August 2021: Opening Day

What Time Does the School Day Begin?
The school day begins at 8:45 a.m. at Sky Crossing ES. Students are welcome to arrive anytime after 8:20 a.m. and head to the playground area assigned to their grade level. The first bell rings at 8:40 a.m., when students line up and teachers come out to greet them and bring them to the classroom. The students are to be in their seats and ready to learn by 8:45 a.m.
What Are the Hours of the Before- and After-School Mascot Program?
Students registered in the Mascot Program can arrive as early as 6:30 a.m., with the staff releasing those students to the playground by 8:30 a.m. After school, the program runs as late as 6:30 p.m.
Mascot Club students enjoy a rich variety of activities that aim to cultivate students' talents and interests such as games, art projects, sports, and STEM-based projects.
Are After-School Clubs Being Offered During the Fall Semester?
As of now, the following will be offered in the first semester at Sky Crossing via the Community Education Department:
- BEST Sports Soccer
- Science Matters
- Young Rembrandts
- Pop Dance

Enrolling in Sky Crossing Elementary
If you live within 24th and 40th streets, south of Jomax Road, and north of Loop 101 and your child will be going into any grade between kindergarten and 6th, you qualify for traditional enrollment.
