Creative Movement Exploration
Students will experiment with a variety of stimuli to build movement vocabulary and self expression. Examine relationship between body parts to demonstrate shapes with positive and negative space.
Intro to Dance
Students will create movement from a variety of stimuli to develop movement vocabulary and self expression. Refine dance skills while performing diverse pathways, levels, and patterns in space.
Intro to Dance Performance
Students will expand their movement vocabulary and develop artistic expression. Refine partner and ensemble dance skills while performing diverse pathways, levels, and patterns in space.
Intermediate Dance Performance
Students will experiment with a variety of stimuli to expand movement vocabulary and explore improvisational techniques. Identify healthful practices and basic anatomical knowledge that promote safe strategies when warming up, dancing, and in everyday life.
Students will explore a variety of stimuli for inspiring movement to develop original dance sequences with artistic expression. Embody technical dance skills to execute complex dance movements, sequences, and choreography in a variety of genres and styles.
Intermediate Dance Techniques
Students will embody technical dance skills to execute complex dance movements, sequences, and choreography in the following dance genres, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary. Students will Investigate and evaluate the design and execution of production elements that intensify and heighten the artistic intent of a dance.
Students will connect energy/effort and dynamics to a variety of dance genres and apply them through all parts of the body into movement sequences. Identify and analyze movement preferences of self and others and explore ways to expand and synthesize movement into choreography.
NVAA Advanced Dance Production (Commencing 2019-20)
Students will demonstrate fluency of choreographic elements, structures, and processes to design original dance compositions with intentional choices in artistry. Students will work collaboratively to produce dance performances and organize the production elements that would be necessary to fulfill the artistic intent of the dance works.
