I’ve worked 16.5 years at Roadrunner because the staff is like a family. We not only care for each other, but care about the students that go here. Before this job, I was a purchasing agent for an electronics company called Reptron in Northern Minnesota. I bought components for computers and electronic boards. Now I am the opener for Maximum Fitness Gym in Scottsdale every morning, (Monday through Friday from 4AM to 6 AM). From there, I come to work at Roadrunner.

When I was a child, I dreamt of becoming a Veterinarian. My favorite subjects in school were English and drama. I also loved sports. In fact, I was on the president’s physical fitness team. I was one of six in my home town who won the award. Now I’m a huge hockey fan.
In my free time I like to make quilts, read, and hang out with my dog, Fred Eli, and husband, drinking coffee on my swing. Fred Eli is very-very spoiled. He is part Wheaton Terrier and Carin Terrier. He thinks he is human.

Kara Portner - Administrative Assistant III/Registrar/Discovery

Kara Portner

I am originally from New Ulm, Minnesota.  I lived in California for about five years where I met my husband and in 1996 we moved to Arizona.  We have four grown children who are spread out all over, we have one in the Air Force and he is married and lives in Oklahoma City, one son has recently moved to Minnesota, one son in Southern California, and our daughter still lives with us, she has Down Syndrome and we couldn't bear to have her move out - she is too much fun!   In recent years she has started going to concerts with me and we have the best time together. Some of my favorite things to do is to go to concerts, or camping, boating, traveling, reading and watching TV.   I work as the Administrative Assistant/Registrar/Records Secretary here at Roadrunner and have been  since 2000.

Brenda Keutzer - Nurse

Brenda Keutzer

I have been at Roadrunner for five and a half years. Prior to this job, I worked in hospital nursing, case management, and school nursing. I have an Associate Degree in Nursing, an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, and an Arizona Real Estate License. In fact, after I earned my Culinary degree, I had planned to work at a resort in the banquet department, but when Roadrunner’s nurse got hurt and the school called me to sub for a week, I fell in love with this place and decided to stay. I like that Roadrunner is a small school, and staff members work well together and support one another. It’s great to know that we are helping kids feel safe and enjoy coming to school everyday.

When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a flight attendant because I love to travel. I played the piano, clarinet and viola, but was not great at any of them, and liked piano the best. I also did ballet and ran on my school’s track team.

On my free time, I help my husband sell real estate, I love boating on the lake, attending culinary and art festivals around town, and bicycling. My hobbies are playing tennis and bargain shopping. Basketball is my favorite sport, and I root for University of Louisville and University of Kentucky teams.

I have two dogs, Annie and Brody boy and girl, Shih-tzus from the same litter, they are 18 months old and love to go on walks, play in the backyard all day, swim in the pool, sit on the patio chairs, and Brody loves to fetch balls.

Rob Harper - Lead Custodian

Rob Harper

I started at Roadrunner School in February 2018 as the Head custodian.  I love working at Roadrunner! The staff is very friendly, and I work with a lot of great people.

Before Roadrunner,  I worked at Shadow Mountain High School as a security guard and coached football and wrestling.  I worked at Pinnacle High School as the Athletic Equipment Manager and also coached football, track and weight room.  While at Pinnacle, I had the amazing opportunity to host the Fiesta Bowl team practices for their big games. I was on the sideline for Ohio State’s National Championship in 2003, and also hosted University of Pittsburgh, University of Oregon and Notre Dame.  I have also worked in Peoria School District’s Warehouse, and at Glendale Community College as the Athletic Equipment Manager, where in 2009 G.C.C. won the Valley of the Sun Bowl! For many years I ran my own business as a Relocation Specialist subcontracting to the National Van Lines such as Mayflower, Allied, Atlas, and United Van Lines.

My hobbies include camping, fishing, hunting, watching sports, and playing with my Pitbull Brooklynn!  I am married and have a beautiful, caring and supportive wife who is the “love of my life”!

Sunny Jundt - School Psychologist

Sunny Jundt

sjundt@pvschools.net

I graduated from the University of Tennessee with my Doctorate of Philosophy in School Psychology and Master of Science in Educational Psychology after having taught art in alternative school settings.  Born and raised in South Dakota, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education at South Dakota State University then taught in southwestern Minnesota and Knoxville, Tennessee.

I have been in the Paradise Valley District for the last seven years and jumped at the chance to join the Roadrunner team. I enjoy working with students of all grade levels and with a variety of strength and needs. I believe that there is an important place for every child in our schools and society because they all have their own unique abilities and we all benefit from learning from each child. I also have a strong interest in preparing young adults for adult life and helping families understand services and options available in the community.

In addition to my passion for working with and advocating for students, I have a variety of hobbies and interests. I am married with two wonderful stepdaughters. We enjoy camping and visiting family across the nation and Canada. My husband and I have done a good amount of remodeling in our home and are currently restoring a Volkswagen Beetle with a Nash Metropolitan next in line. We also enjoy watching football and have season tickets for the IFL Arizona Rattlers. I also enjoy science fiction and supernatural television shows and movies, reading just about anything, and I continue to create a variety of art including paintings and costumes.
