Develop relationships that support and foster social, emotional, and academic needs to ensure individual student success.

School Strategies

Provide, communicate and monitor opportunities for every student to participate in at least one activity that connects them to teachers, staff and other students on campus (athletics, mentoring, clubs).

Equity Goal Metrics

  • Student surveys about connections to staff and school environment

  • Track the number of clubs on campus

  • Monitor the number of student participants, once in fall and once in the spring, in activities and compare to overall enrollment.

Equity Goal Objective 2

Create procedures to eliminate barriers so that all students can participate and experience success in high quality curricular and extracurricular programs.

School Strategies

  • Establish clear and equitable grading procedures for all students.

  • PLC teams will work towards grading equity (including but not limited to a minimum number of assignments, grade weighting, grade book categories, or common assessments) in order to ensure equity in grading.

  • Identify possible economic barriers to participation by students in extracurricular activities.

Equity Goal Metrics

  • Data collection at quarters and mid-term progress (progress grades each quarter and end of quarter)

  • Examine grade reports by department in order to identify struggling students.

  • Discuss with each department grading policies/procedures and look at level (intermediate/reg/honors/AP) grading policies/procedures.

  • With the data above, PLC’s will authentically discuss the common skills/concepts through assessments that are given to help remediate the struggling students.

  • Establish procedures to ensure that grades are posted every two weeks for purpose of timely feedback to students

  • Survey students about their lack of participation in extracurricular activities.

Equity Goal Objective 3

To develop cultural competence within PVSchools that results in equity for students.

School Strategies

  • Analyzing data in order to identify inequities (Socioeconomics, F/R lunch, AP/Honors Participation, demographic, attendance)

  • Modeling empathy by staff

  • Character education/self-worth - Increased involvement

  • Mental Health Awareness Initiative

Equity Goal Metrics

  • Measure student participation in mental health awareness activities in order to see an increase.

  • Monitor student participation in various programs in order to ensure that demographic breakdown is commensurate with school demographics.
