Pre-K-6th grade students returning for in-person learning will begin on February 16, and students in grades 7-12 will return on February 22.
Several athletes competed at the State Meet on November 5th and 6th. Jesse Edwards placed 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke and 3rd in 100 yard Fly. Jesse Edwards (grade 11), Brett Keene (grade 10), Maximilian D’Elia (grade 12), and Jayden Little (grade 11) placed 14th in the 100 yard medley relay. Diana Villa (grade 12), Karina Ligasan (grade 10), Kaylee Patton (grade 9), and Cambria Kautenburger (grade 9) competed in the 200 yard free relay.
Dawson Taylor (grade 12) placed 17th, Burke Gedris (grade 10) placed 24th, and Zoe Hanshew (grade 12) placed 19th in diving. The boys diving team placed 17th overall.
Matthew Salazar (grade 12) individually qualified for the AZ State Meet that was on Friday, November 13th. He ran well, placing 34th and finishing the 5K (3.1 miles) race in 17:13.
The team competed at the AIA Sectionals on November 4th. The boys’ team placed 11th overall: Matthew Salazar (grade 12), Abbel Mamo (grade 12), Jacob Blanzy (grade 9), Sam Rixford (grade 12), and Kian Francis (grade 10). The girls’ team placed 9th overall: Daniela Quilantan (grade 10), Margaret Symington-LeBorgne (grade 10), Evelyn GarciaHernandez (grade 12), Lexi Connor (grade 9), and Chloe Connor (grade 11).
Lucas Grunden (grade 10) won the PVUSD boys varsity 5K race with a time of 16:52 on October 23, 2020.
For boys golf, Tristan Kertesz (grade 12) placed 33rd out of 81 golfers at the state tournament in Tucson on November 4-5, 2020. Tristan Kertesz made the All District Team and Brady Kroening (grade 11) made the Honorable Mention District Team.
For girls golf, the team finished 18th out of 44 Division 2 Teams in Arizona.
The team was led by two Seniors: Aven Davis, who finished 20th out of 228 ranked golfers in Arizona (side note: Aven finished TWO away from the cut for State qualifiers), and Tina Filipe, who finished 36th out of 228 ranked golfers in Arizona.
Volleyball had a 6-10 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament against Sunrise Mountain on November 17, 2020. They finished 8th in the state standings for 5A.
Football had several games cancelled due to COVID-19 and finished the season 0-6.
While the Fall season did not include any stunting or competing, Cheer shared their spirit by supporting the JV and Varsity football teams.
Badminton finished the season with a 4-9 record.
