Please Read This Important Message from Our Superintendent (Updated April 1)
As you are aware, late Monday, Governor Ducey announced a stay-at-home order that impacts all non-essential services and operations. Education is considered an essential operation. Though our schools are closed, we continue to serve meals, distribute computer devices, and serve families through distance learning. We remain dedicated to helping our students and families.
There are a few updates I would like to provide:
Principals will be contacting parents/guardians with dates, times, and details to pick-up a computer device if your child is still in need of one. You can expect to hear from them within the next week.
At the end of April and early May, principals will be scheduling pick-up days to gather student belongings from their school. Once those dates and times have been established, the principals will contact families.
All school amenities, such as playgrounds and athletic fields are closed. We are sanitizing our playground equipment to help combat the spread of COVID-19. Once cleaned, gates will be locked and signs will be posted advising of the closure. Thank you in advance for your support in keeping our schools and community safe.
Yesterday, the Arizona State Board of Education approved more flexible graduation requirements. The approval ensures that students who were on track to graduate prior to the school closures can and will graduate.
As of right now, graduations are not canceled. We are currently evaluating potential solutions should we need to reschedule, postpone, or develop alternative formats. We know our students have worked hard for this milestone and want to make the best decision possible. Additional information regarding graduation ceremonies will be shared by the end of April.
While our focus this week has been on student learning, we don't want to ignore the social and emotional health of our students and families. On our district’s website, we have provided links to several sources that can guide you in working with your children and provide assistance with some of your family's critical needs: Visit the district's COVID-19 info page.
Please continue to check your email for communication from your student’s school and our Monday, Wednesday, and Friday communications.
We hope that you and your family are staying safe, both physically and emotionally. Keep washing those hands and practicing social distancing!
