Mr. Ryan DeAustin - Assistant Principal
Welcome to Mountain Trail Middle School! The 2020-21 school year is my third at MTMS, and I feel fortunate and excited to be the assistant principal at such a fine school. I look forward to working with all members of the Mountain Trail community to ensure that our students feel safe, known, and cared for. It is a privilege to work with our staff which is committed to developing relationships that promote and foster the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all our students. Please join us in making this a special year.
I have two boys named Samuel and Nicholas and a little girl named Olive. My wife, Lidia, and I met in 2005 in Costa Rica where I was teaching. We were married in Granada, Nicaragua in 2008, and moved to Phoenix in July of 2011. I taught 8th grade English at Shea Middle School for six years and was the Attendance Dean at Paradise Valley High School before joining the Mountain Trail community two year ago. The whole family has adapted well to Coyote life!
I recognize the unique challenges of being an educator in 2020. The pace with which our world is changing can be daunting, but I find solace and take comfort in the potential of young people and the power of education. When we give young people a voice and the tools to adapt, learn, and grow academically and personally, we have no way of knowing how far they will go or where they will take us. Thank you for stopping by, and I look forward to seeing you on campus.
Thank you and see you virtually soon.
