Dual Enrollment at Horizon High School
Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)
Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) consists of 35 to 38 semester credits that fulfill lower-division general education requirements for students planning to transfer to any Arizona public community college or university.
Benefits of completing the AGEC during high school:
- AGEC transfers as a block to all Arizona universities.
- Completion of AGEC guarantees acceptance to Arizona universities.
- Students complete their General Education requirements before entering university.
- Students are provided a foundation in working toward an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
- Increased scholarship opportunities for students with AGEC or Associate of Arts (AA).
West-MEC/Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Did you know it's possible to get real-world experience and even certification in a career of your choice while in high school?
Many of the options we can provide while you're at Horizon are free or extremely low cost. These programs may give you resume-boosting experience or even certification in a career of your choice so you can get a head start while you further your education a post-secondary institution.
We have eight programs of study at Horizon. There are 16 programs of study at StarTech, located on the PVHS campus, and 27 programs of study located at West-MEC.
Advanced Placement Courses
AP gives you the academic skills you need in college and can also give you more time to concentrate on the subjects that interest you.
Horizon has provided two presentations to assist students and parents in increasing your knowledge of our AP Program.
Incoming Freshmen may find the presentation "Welcome to Pre-AP Honors English" very helpful when making a decision to take AP class.

PVOnline allows students to study at their own pace in a flexible, supportive online learning environment. PVOnline students receive one-on-one instructional support from highly qualified, certified teachers and have access to peer-to-peer homework help and a drop-in learning lab where they can connect with other online students.
With 175 courses for all grades K-12, PVOnline offers all credits needed for graduation and higher education. PVOnline is open to all Arizona-based students and is fully accredited by the state of Arizona.
