Start-of-Year Virtual Learning
In order to best support students and families, we have created an Information Technology resource site: Visit the new PV Assist website.
Our office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday - Friday.
School begins at 8:45 A.M. and all students should be dropped off at the playgrounds no later than 8:40 A.M.
Attendance phone number is (602) 449-6601. Please use this line to call in absences before 9:00 A.M.
If your child is ill or missing school for some other reason, please be sure to call our 24-hour attendance line at (602) 449-6601 any time before 9:00 A.M. the morning of the absence. Notifying the teacher of the absences does not excuse the absence. When calling in an absence, please state the student's name, teacher, grade and reason for the absence (for an illness, please be specific as to type and whether or not the student has a fever). If your child has a fever, he or she must be fever free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school. For the health and safety of all students, there are no exceptions to this rule.
Immunization requirements are governed by the Arizona Department of Health. Visit the Arizona Department of Health to learn the requirements and download forms.
To find out if you live in the Grayhawk boundaries and whether or not we are your home school, use the Paradise Valley Unified School District School Locator. If you want your student to attend Grayhawk and you know you are not inside our boundary, you may still be eligible for Open Enrollment (attendance on a transfer). Please visit the district Open Enrollment website for more information.
Open Enrollment is from October 1st through January 21st of this school year. Applications are available online through the district link. During this time, Open Enrollment forms will be handled through the district office at 15002 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ. These enrollment forms should be sent directly to district during the district Open Enrollment period. Other times of the year, out of district Open Enrollment applications are accepted at the school office.
NOTE: Students on a transfer at a school (or open enrolled) are not eligible for district transportation. Students attending schools on a transfer may have their transfer revoked for violating Governing Board policies on rules of conduct or attendance. Revocation of the transfer is at the discretion of the Principal.
Homework, if requested on the attendance line before 9:00 A.M., may be picked up in the school office after 3:15 P.M. on the same day. Students will be given time to make up work when they return from their absence and this will be coordinated by the teacher and student.
Under district attendance and excuse policy, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to notify the school of an absence. We urge you to call the school absence line as soon as you are aware of any absences and all absences must be reported prior to 9:00 A.M. the day of the absence. Grayhawk Elementary has a 24-hour voice mail absence line for reporting absences. The number is (602) 449-6601 . Please remember that any student whose absences (excused OR unexcused) totals more than 10% or 18 days of the school year and whose absences have affected academic progress may be retained due to the negative effect on the grade and may be cited and reported to the courts (A.R.S. 15-802; A.R.S. 15-803).
