Who Are We?
Grayhawk Elementary opened in the fall of 1998 to service the families of Paradise Valley School District's most northern boundaries. Grayhawk is one of 33 elementary schools in the PV Schools District and it currently offers Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade classes to more than 600 students.
We are committed to building a community of individuals who care for one another and encourage one another to succeed. We believe there are no limits to what your child can do and we work hard to foster that same belief in our students.
Grayhawk is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is part of the Paradise Valley Unified School District. We are very proud of our school. Our students, staff and parent community are dedicated to making Grayhawk an outstanding example of excellence in education. Our goal is continuous improvement and we strive as a team to work towards it every day of the year.
Why Choose Grayhawk?
In May of 2015 Grayhawk was recognized as an A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation. This award is to identify and give public recognition to outstanding schools in Arizona. We have also received prestigious recognition as being 1 of only 4 schools in the country to earn the honor of being a Core Knowledge School of Distinction. In addition, for the 3rd year in a row Grayhawk has been named by the National Center for Educational Achievement and the Arizona Business and Education Coalition to the 2013 Higher Performing School List in All Subjects, one of only 4 elementary school in the state of Arizona to achieve such an honor.
Grayhawk Elementary School has been recognized as a School of Distinction by the Core Knowledge Foundation. Schools of Distinction are recognized by the Foundation as offering a superior educational experience. Watch a short video about the great things we are doing!
We individualize instruction for students by utilizing flexible groups, multiple intelligences, tiered lessons, curriculum compacting, project-based learning and individualized learning plans. Some of our unique offerings include Core Knowledge, cluster grouping and honors pullout in reading and math, Special Area Classes in Visual arts, Physical Education, Vocal Music, and Technology/STEM. We also offer Band, Strings, Chorus and a comprehensive enrichment after school.

Paradise Valley Unified District Goals
COMPASS 2015: Centered on Measures Positioning All Students for Success
COMPASS 2015 is the district's strategic plan for instructional and operations excellence with a primary focus on individual student success. The plan was developed as a collaboration of PV Schools administrators, educators and education support professionals.
Our goal is to cultivate world-class thinkers. District educators incorporate 21st century skills into daily lessons -- skills our students require to be successful in a future filled with unknowns. They include the four Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, and they encompass the ability to use data appropriately, articulate a persuasive position, digital literacy, global mindedness, teamwork, empathy, conflict resolution and integrity.
