Explorer Middle School offers a variety of school clubs and activities for students to explore and choose from.
Located at the south end of San Francisco Bay, the area now known as Silicon Valley is home to many of the most innovative and successful companies in silicon chip technology, computer design and social media. Our trip may help to inspire the next generation of programmers, computer experts and coders.
A visit to our nation’s capital has become a rite of passage for middle school students across the country. At Explorer we are thrilled to provide this opportunity to our 8th grade class.
The Explorer Art Club is a place for students to learn about the elements of art and principles of design. Students will be exposed to various artistic media, and encouraged to explore their creativity.
Band Club members learn the correct fundamentals of their chosen musical instrument, and how to be a contributing member of a musical ensemble. Students will also gain knowledge about music performance techniques, and have opportunities to showcase their talent through performances at school.
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. Students must receive a 3.8 cumulative grade point average in grade seven to qualify. Students are invited to join our club in the beginning of their eighth grade year. If they qualify, they are sent an application.
The Explorer Strings program offers students the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of string orchestra playing. Participants will develop their individual playing skills while growing as ensemble musicians through the use of orchestral repertoire and technique study.
The mission of the Student Council is to represent the interests of the student body in student government affairs. We work with the administration, faculty, staff and school committee to ensure the student body feels free to express their ideas and suggestions. Student Council promotes a positive relationship between the student body and the administration, faculty, staff and school committee.
