A new program at EMPS, Mutt-i-grees teaches students to show compassion, care, and kindness using shelter dogs and then allows students to use that experience to create and maintain a positive classroom climate. Designed by Yale University's School of the 21st Century, the program is part of the North Shore Animal League of America, the oldest and largest animal shelter and adoption operation in the world. Mutt-i-grees approaches social and emotional learning from the unique perspective of making shelter animals – both virtual and actual – catalysts for compassion and learning. Our School Resource Officer (SRO) will have an active role in the Mutt-i-gree program at EMPS.
