PVSchools Offers a Variety of Enrichment Programs to Complement the Academic School Day

PVSchools Community Education Enrichment programs are tuition-based and offer affordable classes throughout the year.  Classes provide opportunities for students in grades K-12 to pursue their interests, expand their abilities and talents, and improve their social skills in an informal, fun, and safe environment.  Enrichment programs are offered after school, on evenings and weekends and during the day throughout the summer.

Art Club​

Do you LOVE art class? If so, Art Club is for you! Students will explore a variety of art materials and create exciting works of art in this fun club. All art projects will be different from the artworks we create during the regular school day, and are suitable for upper-grade students who enjoy making art.

  • Grade Levels: 3rd-6th

Accelerated Reader Club​

Students will have a cozy place to read and take AR quizzes. Students should bring his/her AR book with them to class.

  • Grade Levels: 2nd-6th

  • Schedule: Tuesday, 3:15-4:15pm
  • Cost: $50
  • Maximum number of students: 18

 

Homework Club (Monday)​

Does your student need help with his/her homework? This club provides 60 minutes of supervised and assisted homework time. Students are expected to stay on task during this time.

  • Schedule: Monday, 3:15-4:15pm
  • Cost: $50
  • Maximum number of students: 18

Math with a Twist​

This club will teach important math concepts including area, perimeter, volume, angles, fractions, algorithms, among other geometry and algebraic topics all with using the Rubik's© Cube and games. The students will learn/practice the eight Common Core mathematical practices and 21st century skills such as focus, following directions, memorization, sequencing, problem solving, critical thinking, and perseverance. Students will be able to solve the Rubik's© Cube when the class ends.

Newbery Book Club​

An after school class where students will have the opportunity to read books that have received the Newbery Medal. This award is given out annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children’s book published the previous year. The ALA gave out the first award in 1922 so there are 95 Newbery Medal novels. Students will read the book together during club time and at home. Together we will identify the theme, review plot development, and discuss characters. Some novels will have additional activities associated with them.

Running Club​

Students learn the fundamentals of running, in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere. Students will have an opportunity to represent DSP in a district cross-country race in December. Please note that signing up for this class means you give permission for your child to run off campus to the park or Horizon High School.

  • Grade Levels: 2nd-6th
  • Teacher: Mrs. Popa
  • Schedule: Thursday, 7:45am-8:30am
  • Cost: $40
  • Maximum number of students: 55

**This class will end near the beginning of May pending weather.

 

Sports Club​

​Students learn the fundamentals of different sports and activities. Students focus on team sportsmanship and interacting with different levels of ability and ages.

  • Grade Levels: 2nd-6th
  • Teacher: Mrs. Popa
  • Schedule: Monday, 3:15-4:15pm
  • Cost: $50
  • Maximum number of students: 24

**This class will end near the beginning of May pending weather.

 

 

Note: Students will be enrolled on a first come, first serve basis. There are a minimum number of student registrations needed for classes to proceed. Confirmation will be sent home once your student is registered. A calendar of class days will be provided upon approval. There are no classes on Early Release days. This registration is for Semester 2 ONLY (Jan - May).

 

Additional Information about DSPES Before and After School Classes:

  • Students are held to the same level of accountability and behavior expectations as during the regular school day. You will be notified of any behavior issues that may occur. On the 3rd documented behavior incident, students will not be allowed to continue in after school classes.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to come prepared with necessary materials/supplies.
  • Parents must park and walk to the front of the school to pick up their child from the teacher at the designated ending time. On the 3rd documented late pick-up, students will not be allowed to continue in after school classes.
  • For safety, attendance will be taken every session.
