Develop relationships that support and foster social, emotional, and academic needs to ensure individual student success.

School / Department Strategies

  • Provide differentiated social interventions to support students, including Check and Connect, Restorative Justice practices, PBIS strategies

  • Teach appropriate social skills and conflict resolution techniques

  • Staff professional development on Trauma Informed schools and deeper understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how it affects students’ social and emotional growth

  • Social work support for students that exhibit need for support

Equity Goal Objective 2

Create procedures to eliminate barriers so that all students can participate and experience success in high quality curricular and extracurricular programs.

School / Department Strategies

  • Gather input from stakeholders to identify various After the Bell programs to meet the needs of students

  • Use DIBELS, district and classroom assessment data to identify students’ academic and extracurricular needs

  • Participate in in-class programs (i.e. My Pi Day, Ice Cream Factory etc.) at various grade levels

  • Work with After the Bell coordinator to offer programs and classes to meet the needs of student population.

To develop cultural competence within PVSchools that results in equity for students.

School / Department Strategies

  • Provide professional development in understanding social and emotional needs of our students

  • Provide professional development in positive behavior interventions to promote positive student interaction and to create a safe learning environment.

  • Provide professional development to staff on Equity issues.

  • Foster strong classroom communities through classroom sharing times, Harmony circles and building relationships.
