Boulder Creek Elementary School offers all students Physical Education as one of our four rotating special classes each week.
While Physical Education is looked upon as the ‘fun’ part of the day by many students, it plays as important a role in student development as classroom work.
The goal is to encourage fitness through physical activity and nutritious eating habits, which contributes to a healthier and happier life.
Research suggests that physical activity helps students to be more receptive to learning in the classroom, by improving concentration and reducing stress.
The physical education curriculum is centered on the development of management skills, fundamental movements, and rhythmic activities, and incorporates social and sportsmanship skills.
The curriculum is based on understanding the importance of physical fitness and exercise, maintaining a level of fitness, and developing proficiency in fundamental movement. Other areas of focus are the development of sports related skills, body management, and rhythmic and recreational activities. Social skill and sportsmanship are also incorporated.
