State Testing is Here!

It’s time for PV students to shine, as state standardized testing has started in Paradise. Find out more information about your child’s state tests below.

ACT

PVSchools 11th-grade students will participate in the Arizona-required ACT. This exam is part of statewide testing and will give schools valuable information about students’ reading, math, writing, and science achievement.

The information collected from the ACT state test will help administrators and teachers better understand students’ academic performance. ACT data provides information that improves how students are taught, how teachers are coached, and how high school students can be better supported and prepared for graduation and post-secondary opportunities. Additionally, the ACT scores are a component of the school’s accountability formula that helps determine the school letter grade. 

ACT Aspire

PVSchools 9th-grade students will complete a required state test titled ACT Aspire. This exam is part of statewide testing and will give schools valuable information about your child's reading, math, writing, and science achievement. The state will use scores collected from this year's 9th-grade students to compare to the ACT scores they will earn during their junior year.

AASA and AzSci

PVSchools students in grades 3rd through 8th will complete a required state test titled Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA). Students in 5th, 8th, and 11th will also take a state science test titled, AzSCI. The AASA and AzSCI will provide information that will improve how students are taught and how teachers are coached and give teachers an objective measure of how students are progressing. Additionally, the AASA can provide benchmarks for parents, guardians, teachers, students, and schools. 

All public schools are required to administer state-standardized assessments to fulfill the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
