Sonoran Sky Protects Endangered Animals

Sonoran Sky Protects Endangered Animals

Ms. Jen Weitz's first and second-grade classes have accomplished an incredible feat! With passion, dedication, and hard work, these Sonoran Sky students have celebrated the culmination of their interdisciplinary thematic unit on endangered animals, and what a celebration it was!

For months, these young scholars have delved into the critical issues surrounding endangered animals, immersing themselves in reading, writing, science, social studies, math, public speaking, and citizen action. From mastering the anatomy and physiology of animals to exploring the ethical responsibility of humans for preserving their habitats, they have indeed left no stone unturned.

Their commitment to the cause of animal conservation has been unparalleled, as evidenced by the staggering donation of $1700 raised by the class and the symbolic adoption of 14 endangered animals from the World Wildlife Fund. The sheer amount of effort and resources devoted to this project is a testament to these young students' care and concern for our planet and its inhabitants.

The culminating event was a resounding success, with each student presenting their findings in a Google slideshow that showcased their creativity, curiosity, and collaborative spirit. Parents, family members, and teachers were all captivated by the wealth of information, insight, and passion demonstrated by these young learners.

These students have proven that age is just a number when it comes to making a difference in the world. They embody hope, compassion, and resilience, and we do not doubt that they will continue to positively impact generations to come. Congratulations to Ms. Weitz and her outstanding students!
