Important Update Regarding Use of Wireless Devices

PVSchools Parents, Guardians, and Students, 

We want to share some important information about how PVSchools is supporting focused learning environments across our campuses. A new Arizona state law, signed by Governor Hobbs on April 14, 2025, requires all public schools to have policies that limit student access to social media and the use of personal wireless devices during the school day. In PVSchools, our current district policy, which is outlined in our family/student handbook (page 12), already follows this law and is designed to support a focused and respectful learning environment.

To support student learning, PVSchools limits the use of personal devices like cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds during the school day—including during meals, passing periods, and recess. In compliance with the new law, students at all school sites will be allowed to use their devices for educational purposes, during an emergency, or if they have a medical need. Similarly, access to social media is restricted during school hours unless it is approved by a teacher or administrator for an educational activity.

PVSchools recognizes that there are times when parents and students need to communicate during the school day. While each school will develop specific procedures, the general process is for parents to contact the school’s front office if they need to relay a message to their child. When students need to call home, they typically will be asked to request permission from a teacher or ask to go to the front office to make the call.
