Governing Board | Welcome New Board Members
As this week starts drawing to a close, we hope you are enjoying the last few days in the semester while getting ready for time off with family and friends near and far. Hard to believe we are about to have to start writing 2025 on correspondence and assignments!
When we return from winter break, the Governing Board will be welcoming two new members following the November election. A graduate of PVSchools herself, Dr. Amanda Lim is the parent of current and incoming PV students who has served on school council and volunteered extensively at her child’s school. Her experiences as a PVSchools student propelled her into a career in biomedical research, and Amanda recently earned her doctorate in bioethics/medical ethics. An attorney specializing in family law, Jessica Wani is the parent of two current PV students, a long-time volunteer at all levels of the district, and former president of the United Parent Council. Jessica has advocated for policies and initiatives to support children and public education extensively on the local, state, and national levels for more than a decade. Both bring vast knowledge of PVUSD people, places, and programs that we know will be an asset to the board and district.
This also means that we must say our goodbyes and heartfelt thanks to two retiring board members. Kerry Baker will be stepping down after filling a 2-year term and in her time on the board, she has been a steadfast voice for students and teachers in PV and beyond. Kerry will be continuing that advocacy in other avenues in the months ahead and we know her work will well support our community and others.
We also are bidding farewell to Nancy Case, who has devoted the past 20 years to serving the students, staff, families, and community of PVSchools on the board. The parent of seven PVSchools graduates, her “always do what’s best for kids” mindset and championing of public education has been at the forefront of her service. For years, Nancy taught reading during the summer to ensure that younger students developed fundamental, life-long skills and a love of reading to support them in school and beyond. Her dedication to education and deep understanding and appreciation of the district and community infused her service, and she will be greatly missed.
We hope that you can use the upcoming winter break to continue or create new family traditions, to recharge from this past year however you need, and to welcome the start of a brand-new year. May you and yours enjoy a most magical and memorable holiday season and a truly Happy New Year.
On behalf of the Governing Board,
Anne Greenberg
President
