Governing Board | Explore High Levels of Achievement

I glanced at the measuring wall in the laundry room—the one where I recorded the height growth for each of my kids and marveled at how my children grew in height over the years.

In Paradise Valley Schools academic and intellectual growth is our central mission. All students are encouraged to explore and stretch themselves to high levels of achievement through Advanced Placement courses, gifted classes, work study opportunities, technical programs, and the arts.

Parents have opportunities of networking through the United Parent Council’s special interest committee meetings in gifted, special education, health and safety, and community outreach. The Council’s monthly meetings feature experienced speakers on such topics as vaping, college admissions, and children's brain development.

Teachers are provided numerous in-service programs throughout the year and during the summer months to enhance their skills. Further, teachers who complete the rigorous National Board Certification, receive additional compensation. Additionally, the district offers administrative training seminars for teachers interested in becoming principals or other lead roles.

Growth is also an imperative for district leadership and school board members. With the rapid sophistication of technology, options for delivery of instruction multiplied. Students can interact via video conferencing with professors from MIT, Duke, and Georgia Tech. Associate degrees and dual credit courses have been instituted.  All because of leadership’s commitment to learning and encouraging innovation. 

It’s been said: The only way we can live is if we grow. The only way we can grow is if we change. The only way we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed to all opportunities.
