Desert Shadows Elementary School (DSES) has earned the PBIS Model School Award for the 2024-2025 school year. DSES was one of the only schools to receive this award, recognizing the exceptional academic excellence and growth demonstrated by the school community.
The school successfully implements all three tiers of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. PBIS is a tiered system utilized district-wide to support students across four key areas: behaviorally, academically, and socially and emotionally. The staff's dedication to maintaining a positive and caring environment while holding students to high expectations has created an environment where students genuinely look forward to coming to school every day and are supported in all areas.
Desert Shadows Elementary is truly a model, not just for PBIS implementation, but for what is possible when a school leads with heart. Congratulations to Principal Cunningham, the staff, and the JAWSOME Sandsharks on this impressive and well-deserved achievement!
