Title I

Title I is the largest single program of federal aid for elementary and secondary education. Through Title I, funds are allocated to more than 90% of the nation’s schools to offset the effects of poverty. Schools with a free and reduced lunch percentage of greater than 35% are eligible to receive Title I funding.

The goal of Title I is to ensure a high quality education for every child regardless of their socio-economic status. The law reads: “The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards and state academic assessments.”

Title I is in place to level the academic playing field for the disadvantaged and underserved student population as well as to empower parents to get involved in their child’s education. Parents and teachers working together make a powerful team and we welcome you and encourage you to take an active role in our school!
