Shadow Mountain Athletic Director Named AIAAA 4A Conference Athletic Director of the Year

Thursday , May 12 , 2022

We're excited to announce that Ron Safcik, athletic director at Shadow Mountain High School, has been named the Arizona Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (AIAAA) 4A Conference Athletic Director of the Year!

The AIAAA gives this award to only one athletics director in each conference. This prestigious award is well-deserved, and a testament to the hard work and dedication Safcik has put in over the years. Thank you for setting such a high standard for our student-athletes. We are proud of you!

"Being an athletic director has given me the opportunity to develop relationships with the Shadow Mountain community and other athletic administrators around the state. There are two people that I need to thank. Principal David Appleman at Shadow Mountain High School encouraged me to take on my leadership role and gave me the flexibility to work with our coaches and student-athletes. I would also like to thank the PVSchools Athletic Director Corey Newland for his knowledge and expertise that has been such a blessing and a great influence on not only myself, but all our Athletic Directors in the district," said Safcik.

Each awardee is selected by conference leadership, which receives nominees from each region within the conference.

Safcik is retiring at the end of the 2021-22 school year after 25 years of service at PVSchools. He has been an athletic director for 13 years. This is the second time he has received the award.
