Paradise Valley High School Swimmer Sadie Edwards Wins 2 State Championship Events

Decorated swimmer Sadie Edwards Took home two more awards in a recent state championship tournament. Sadie Edwards, of Paradise Valley High School, was crowned champion in both the Girls 100-Yard Butterfly and 100-Yard Breaststroke events at the 2019 AIA (Arizona Interscholastic Association) Division II State Championship on Nov. 7 at the Mesa Aquatics Club. In the latter event, she finished more than a full second ahead of the second-place finisher.

Sadie is now a five-time Arizona state champion, winning awards not only in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke events, but in the 200-yard individual medley, as well.

  • 200-yard individual medley
  • 100-yard butterfly
  • 100-yard breaststroke
  • 200-yard medley relay
  • 200-yard freestyle relay

She is also a four-time AIA Divisions I, II, and III winner at the Arizona Meet of Champions in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke. Additionally, she is a four-time All-American recipient in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke.

For three consecutive years, Sadie received the United States Scholastic All-America award. This award is only given to 800 student-athletes throughout the nation.

What Her Future Holds

Sadie already has plans lined up for her post-high school career. For starters, she has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Utah, a Division I school, in the fall of 2020 as a student-athlete.
