A New Beginning Fall Dance Concert with dance silhouettes

PVSchools North Valley Arts Academies (NVAA) Dance presents A New Beginning: Fall Dance Concert on November 22nd at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Shadow Mountain High School (get directions). The cost to attend is $5 for students, $10 for adults, and children 5 years old and under are free.

NVAA Dance students will perform original choreography ranging in styles from Contemporary to Hip-Hop dance. Through a rigorous feedback and adjudication process, select student choreographers were invited to present their work at the concert.

Leanne Schmidt Slater, NVAA Dance teacher, has collaborated with college dance programs across the Valley in order to expose her students and school audiences to a variety of artistic flavor and opportunities for further study in dance beyond high school. In September, choreographer Isiah Johnson, a senior at Grand Canyon University (GCU), created his energetic and visually pleasing work, an angular interruption, for the NVAA Dance Company. Johnson will bring his group of 10 GCU dance students to perform in A New Beginning. Additionally, on the guest artist roster is a peppy new hip-hop work by local urban dance artist, Toniqua Smith, featuring a cast of 22.
