PVSchools Governing Board Approves Renaming Arrowhead Elementary to the James P. Lee Early Childhood Learning Center

Monday , July 01 , 2019

At the June 27th Governing Board meeting, the board voted 5-0 to rename Arrowhead Elementary School as the James P. Lee Early Childhood Learning Center. Dr. Lee retired on June 30 after a 10-year tenure as superintendent, the longest of any superintendent in the district’s 106-year history.

"The Governing Board is thrilled to honor Dr. Lee's exemplary service and dedication with the naming of the James P. Lee Early Childhood Learning Center, a space where our youngest learners will begin their educational journeys of excellence as part of the PV community. This lasting tribute demonstrates our gratitude for his steadfast commitment to our students and exceptional leadership of PVSchools during the past decade," said Julie Bacon, Governing Board president.

PVSchools is expanding its early childhood learning programs with the opening of the Little Cubs on July 25, 2019, at the former location of Arrowhead Elementary School. Little Cubs will provide PVSchools employees and working families an option for affordable childcare in the southern area of the district for infants, toddlers, and three year-olds.

“I am humbled and honored by this incredible tribute to me and the work we have done in PVSchools. I could not think of a more meaningful way to culminate my tenure as superintendent,” said Dr. Lee.

The early childhood center will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will follow the school calendar. If you are interested in touring Little Cubs at the James P.
