2 North Canyon High Juniors Selected for the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program

Thursday , May 05 , 2022

Christian Figueroa Villalejos and Paulina Mendoza Rodriguez, both North Canyon High School juniors, were selected for the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program.

The QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program equips high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges. More than 13,000 students across the country applied, and 3,400 students were accepted.

"To me, to be a college prep scholar means that I have the potential to go to college. And it also means that my actions, decisions, and background have been recognized by others and that my chances to succeed are great," said Christian.

"It means a lot to me, to be honest. It makes me feel like I am, in a way, being recognized for my work and effort. It also means that I have a good possibility of going to university, which makes me very glad," said Paulina.

With one last year of high school left, Christian and Paulina plan to make the most of their time during their senior year at North Canyon High School. Christian intends to apply to Ivy League colleges or top colleges in the country, including Yale University, Stanford University, Brown University, and Princeton University. He plans to major in a computer science engineering program. Paulina intends to apply to Brown University, Emory University, Middlebury College, and others. She wants to major in biological science or biochemistry.

Christian and Paulina are in the International Baccalaureate Programme exclusively offered at North Canyon High School for PVSchools. Learn more about North Canyon High School.
