Non-Tuition Based Early Childhood Programs

PVSchools Community Education Early Childhood Programs provide a vibrant learning environment tailored for children from infancy to 4 years old. The programs are certified by the Arizona Department of Health Services, and each one is thoughtfully crafted to support the growth and development of our little learners. Parents can expect innovative teaching, caring educators, and an exciting curriculum that sets the stage for a bright educational journey.

Early Childhood Academy

Taught by a certified teacher with early childhood endorsements, this successful program provides our littlest learners strong literacy and math skills that will prepare them for their kindergarten experience. Enrollment is capped at 15 students per classroom.

Eligibility requirements for Early Childhood Academy include:

Must be four years old by August 31st of the school calendar year.
Must live within the boundaries of their desired school.
Must be toilet trained.

Early Head Start and Head Start Preschools

Southwest Human Development offers free home visiting and classroom-based Early Head Start and Head Start programs designed for income-eligible families and their children, ages birth to 5 years old, who live in the PVSchools attendance area. These programs provide high-quality education, health, nutrition, social services, and parent engagement opportunities. Programs are also available for pregnant mothers and special services are provided for children with disabilities who qualify.

Serving Unique Needs (SUN) Kids Developmental Preschool

Serving Unique Needs (SUN) Kids Preschool provides special education services for 3-to-5-year-old students with special or unique needs and who are not yet eligible for kindergarten. All students must be screened prior to placement in the program. Screening appointments are available year-round. The SUN Kids program only accepts preschoolers from inside the district boundary and is not eligible for open enrollment.

Children with needs identified in the following areas may be eligible:

Communication
Cognitive
Motor Skills
Adaptive Behavior
Social/Emotional Skills

Preschool students who are developing at an expected rate are also accepted as peer models (Peer Pals) and pay tuition of $130 per month. Peer Pals must have the ability to be strong language and behavior models for our students with special or unique needs.

Half-day sessions (a.m. and p.m.) meet Monday through Thursday.

Must be four years old by August 31st of the school calendar year.
Must live within the boundaries of a Title I elementary school in PVSchools District.
Must be identified at risk of failing to meet the state’s challenging student performance standards (assessment is required).

Title I Preschool classes are taught by certified teachers. These full day classes meet Monday through Friday and follow the district’s academic calendar.
