Nurse King
My name is Joyce King and most of the students and parents know me as Nurse King. I have been an Arizona Certified School Nurse in the Paradise Valley School District for 29 years, all of them at Sandpiper Elementary School. I graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1970. I have my Bachelor Degree in Health Education and I received my Master's Degree in Counseling / Human Relations. I also serve as the Prevention Coach for Sandpiper and love to teach students about good health issues and how to resist using substances that are not good for their health. My favorite classes for students are the B.A.B.E.S program for second grade students, the B.A.T and ''Get Real About Tobacco" classes for fifth graders, and COMETS Program and Human Growth and Development classes for sixth grade students.

I have two grown sons who both attended Sandpiper when they were young. In my free time I enjoy cooking and baking, traveling, and playing BUNKO. I also enjoy spoiling 4 grand children.

My favorite quote is: "You can't educate a child who isn't healthy, and you can't keep a child healthy if he isn't educated". It is my goal to help Sandpiper students obtain optimal health and education by providing health assessments, identification and referrals of health problems and health education in all areas of their life.

Please feel free to stop by the Sandpiper Health Center or contact me at 602-449-6303 to discuss and health concerns with your child. I love being your child's nurse at Sandpiper!
