K-12 ELD Adoption Committee

The K-12 English Language Development (Pre-Emergent, Low Basic) Curriculum Resource Adoption Committee purpose is to recommend an English Language Development (ELD) curriculum for adoption to the Governing Board.

PVSchools seeks to adopt a comprehensive English Language Development (ELD) curriculum for grades K–12 to support newcomer, pre-emergent, and basic English Learner (EL) students. This adoption will ensure alignment to the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and provide high-quality instructional practices that build students’ language proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The Curriculum & Instruction Department will facilitate a committee to review and evaluate potential ELD curricula. The committee will examine programs based on specific criteria, including alignment to standards, explicit instruction, scope and sequence, and evidence of effectiveness. Additional considerations include assessments, differentiation resources, variety of instructional materials, and overall ease of use for teachers and students.

The selected curriculum must support Structured English Immersion (SEI) requirements.

The first tentative committee meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2026.
