K-12 Band / Strings Committee
The Fine Arts Department is facilitating a committee to examine the current schedule and staffing of the Band and Strings programs, especially at the elementary level, to determine sustainability and longevity of the model with the purpose of strengthening the Band and Strings programming in PVSchools.
The Fine Arts Supplemental Resource Review Committee is presenting a list of 7-12 Supplemental Resources to be approved for use in Secondary Fine Arts classes in Paradise Valley schools. This process has been created to fulfill the requirements of ARS 15-721 and ARS 15-722. In addition, we want to create standardized guidance for 7–12 Fine Arts classrooms.
Secondary Fine Arts classes do not have a Tier I Adopted Curriculum. Therefore, teachers use supplemental materials in their lessons to teach the necessary skills and standards required of these subjects. These subjects include: Band, Orchestra, Choir, Dance, Drama, Music Technology, and Music History. By incorporating a variety of resources, such as multimedia, websites, hands-on activities, and digital tools, teachers make lessons relevant, interesting, and accessible. The use of which supplemental materials are in use is a site-based decision; however, schools are limited to the approved list.
Community Review: The window to provide feedback will be open until April 23, 2025.
