Journey Middle School Program

Journey provides a differentiated middle school experience based on the academic needs of gifted learners.

• Students demonstrate master of the English Language, Arts, Science, and Social Studies standards in an evidence-based format presented in multiple modes and applied to thematic units of study.
• Student learning is scheduled in daily learning blocks with opportunities of examine content and demonstrate master at a personalized pace.
• Students accept an active role in this blended learning with the integration of personal choice, interest, and teacher-coached goal setting.

Students are expected to:

• Be self-directed learners.
• Be self-motivated learners.
• Embrace project-based and problem-based learning.

• Teachers work with students in small groups or individually based on their individual learning targets, students' strengths, and interests.
• Students are given choices on how they learn the content and demonstrate their knowledge.
• Videos, WebQuests, research projects, choice boards, textbooks, or other activities are available to impart knowledge to students.
• Grouping is flexible and may also vary by student need and evidence.
• Teachers facilitate blended learning environments by developing the units and orchestrating the modes of learning.
• Teacher coach and encourage students to reach their academic potential.
