The gifted testing schedule is pending and gifted testing will resume when in-person learning is available. Please continue to check our gifted website for more specifics regarding testing sites, times, and schedules in the coming months. We will contact families that were previously scheduled for gifted testing (at their school sites and/or at the district office) via email as soon as logistics are confirmed. If you have more questions or want to request a permission to test form, please contact your school's gifted specialist for your school's specific permission form.
You may also choose to take your child to a private provider office; you will schedule this with their offices if and when they should open. If you select outside testing, please refer to our list of approved outside testers.
This remains a quickly evolving situation, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
Gifted Testing Guidelines
Gifted testing takes place three times a year in accordance with the Arizona State Mandate. Paradise Valley Unified School District primarily uses the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT2) to identify gifted students.
PV Schools Gifted assessments ensure fairness to the District’s ethnically diverse population. The assessment battery includes tools that are language-free and culturally unbiased to provide equal opportunities for identification of the District’s English language learners and culturally diverse students:
- The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
- Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT2)
New Testing Protocol
