AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination)
Do you dream of going to college? Do you want to realize your full potential as a student in high school and beyond?
If you answered yes, then AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) may be for you.
The goal of the AVID program is simple: We guarantee that our students will be both college and career ready through an organized, structured college and career curriculum; unparalleled access to rigorous coursework, and leadership and character training.
Our success is based on the positive relationships we build with our students and the consistent exposure to writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and critical reading strategies. Students use these strategies to sharpen their skills and conceptual understanding in all disciplines.

How AVID Works
Twice per week students engage in tutorials facilitated by college tutors, which are modeled after college study groups at the university level. Students must collaborate with their peers as they work through issues in their own learning, and progress onto higher-level questions about their rigorous coursework.
Research shows that 87 percent of AVID graduates succeed in college compared to 77 percent of their peers—and many of them are the first in their families to go to college. The AVID program transforms and molds students into organized, dedicated, and empowered individuals who create and secure their own futures.
