PVSchools is closed through the end of the school year. Visit our COVID-19 page for additional information.
Seems lately when one hears the word “survey,” the likely response is to delete the email or close the online box or hang up on the automated voice that wants you to press “1.”
But in PVSchools, when it comes to surveys, we asked and you answered! To help ensure that our strategic planning process is inclusive and expansive, our planning team developed surveys to gain input from our employees, parents, students, and community members to find out what you think about the Paradise Valley Unified School District and what goals and objectives we should be pursuing over the next several years. We wanted to hear whatever was on your mind – the good, the bad, and especially the ugly.
The response we received was truly extraordinary: More than 16,000 of you completed the surveys and included more than 700 open text pages about what you felt PVSchools does well and where we need to improve. That critical feedback split somewhat equally between the two, and the latter is as essential as the former. We are grateful that so many care so much about PVSchools that you offered your thoughtful and heartfelt comments and concerns. Over the month of February, this wealth of information was reviewed and analyzed for discussion and action steps by the Strategic Planning Committee on March 2, and the Governing Board was updated about this progress at our study session March 5.
One of the points of pride about which we hear so many positive notes in PVSchools is our love of and support for the arts, and that will be on display at the annual Sights and Sounds of PV Festival this weekend, March 7 and 8, at PV Mall. Between the exquisite artwork and dazzling musical, theater, and dance performances, the breathtaking talent of our students will light up the mall in one of the can’t miss events of the year!
One week later, we will close the books on the third quarter of the school year and open the door to a week of spring break. Here’s hoping that the time off provides you and your family some time to rest and refresh and get ready for the “home stretch” of fourth quarter! (Please know that even during this week off that should any need arise, PVSchools will continue to communicate with you in regard to district response to and preparations for the COVID-19 virus and provide updates on the district website: Visit our Coronavirus Information page.)
On behalf of the Board,
