Julie Bacon earned a bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University (Shippensburg, PA) and a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) in social work. She and her husband have had a steadfast commitment to education in raising their two children, who graduated from Paradise Valley schools. Her daughter is currently teaching elementary school students in Arizona and her son is employed as a mechanical engineer. Mrs. Bacon served as president of the United Parent Council and has actively volunteered in the district for more than a decade in many different leadership capacities. An advocate for public schools for many years, she served as a founding member and chair of the district’s Community Legislative Network and is a co-founder of the home grown, award winning program, Volunteer in Paradise, which matches community members with teachers to provide instructional support to struggling students in classrooms. As the daughter of two public school teachers and first-generation college graduates, education is and always will be a top priority in her family.
Her current governing board term will run through December 2022.
