Julie Bacon earned a bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University (Shippensburg, PA) and a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) in social work. She and her husband have a steadfast commitment to education in raising their two children, who graduated from Paradise Valley schools. Her daughter is currently earning a master’s degree in education and her son is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Mrs. Bacon served as president of the United Parent Council and has actively volunteered in the district for more than a decade in many different leadership capacities. An active advocate for public schools for many years, she served as the chair of the district’s Community Legislative Network and is employed by the Arizona School Boards Association as a leadership development specialist. As the daughter of two public school teachers and first-generation college graduates, education is a top priority in her family.
Mrs. Bacon recently served as governing board president for calendar year 2019. Her current governing board term will run through December 2022.
