Governing Board

Five governing board members are elected for staggered, four-year terms. They serve without compensation. The board sets policy for the management of the district, and the superintendent and cabinet are responsible for the execution of these policies. The governing board secretary is Deeann Chisman, whom you can reach at or (602) 449-2298.

Governing Board Meetings

Board meetings are open to the public. Regular meetings are typically held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Governing Board Room at the District Administrative Center, 15002 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix. Study sessions are held as needed for the purpose of studying one or more specific issues in depth. No action is taken during a study session.

The Governing Board meeting dates for the 2020-2021 school year are:

Effective March 13, 2020 until further notice:
Due to the virtual format of the meetings, we will be unable to include Call to the Public. However, we encourage members of the public wishing to have comments read into the record at Governing Board meeting to send written comments to the Governing Board at by 10:00 a.m. the day of the meeting. Governing Board members may then read comments from the public during the agenda item for Governing Board Statements at their discretion. As with the traditional Call to the Public, there can be no discussion of any such comments from the public. Reference: Arizona Attorney General's Opinion dated March 13, 2020 (Re: Concerns Relating to Arizona's Open Meeting Law and COVID-19).
