Pre-K-6th grade students returning for in-person learning will begin on February 16, and students in grades 7-12 will return on February 22.
Dr. James P. Lee
Acting Superintendent of Paradise Valley Unified School District
Dr. James P. Lee served as Superintendent of the Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVSchools) from July 2009 through June 2019. On December 7, 2020, the Governing Board of PVSchools appointed Lee to serve as the Acting Superintendent.
Lee served PVSchools as Assistant Superintendent for Support Services and Planning from 2005-2009 and as Director of Student Services from 2003-2005. He was employed by the Scottsdale Unified School District from 1984-2003 where he was a high school principal, middle school principal, middle school assistant principal, and a teacher. Lee started his career as a teacher at Suring High School in Suring, Wisconsin from 1981-1984.
Lee is a passionate advocate for the potential found in each and every student. As the president of the National Minority Student Achievement Network from 2014-2017, he worked with district leaders across the country to strive for equity and access for all students. He also serves as the K-12 representative on the Arizona Minority Education Policy Advisory Board. Lee’s commitment to community and student voice earned him the distinction of National Speak Up Shout Out Superintendent of the Year in 2016.
