    Dear Sandpiper Families,
I can’t even begin to describe what an amazing month October was!! As I look back and reflect on all that we accomplished last month, I am amazed and very, very thankful! I received overwhelmingly positive feedback on how parent/teacher conferences went. Research is very clear on the positive benefits of a strong home and school partnership, and the teachers and I are so grateful for your support!

We also had a very successful walk-a-thon for breast cancer research...raising over $2,000! Several parents and grandparents joined our staff and students to once again make this a memorable event.

Sixth grade wowed us with their science fair...taking visitors through the scientific process and sharing all of their research and scientific findings. Congratulations to all of our 6th grade students for their hard work on these projects!

Of course we were proud and thrilled to have News Channel 3, and Dave the Garden Guy, visit our sustainability lab. If you missed the broadcast, visit the links below to see why we are so proud of our garden/lab.  We are so thankful to Becky Muday and her team of parents for all of their hard work. This has truly become a community effort! You are ALWAYS welcome to join us in the garden!

And then there was the Hoedown! Incredible!!! Enough said!

As we look forward to November, please note the events listed below. Be sure to mark your calendar for the annual “Read-in” night on November 10. We have several special events planned, so you won’t want to miss this. Several teachers have planned special reading events and activities for the evening. Phoenix Public Library will be here to get children signed up for a library card. We will have guest readers throughout the night, and there will be snacks and drinks available to enjoy while you read with your family and friends! So get comfy and bring your favorite stuffed animal for “books before bed!” The fun begins at 6:00 p.m.

This month our school wide pledge is to “be thankful”.  I know that we all have much to be thankful for, but please know that when I begin to count my many blessings, Sandpiper’s staff, students and parents are right at the top with my own family...my 3 sons and my 3 beautiful grandchildren! I never take any of you for granted!

Let’s make this another incredible month!!!

    Sincerely,
    Ms. Cameron
