If your child is ill or missing school for some other reason, be sure to call our 24 hour attendance line at 602-449-6501. any time before 9:00 a.m. the morning of the absence. Notifying the teacher of the absences does not excuse the absence. Any absence not called in to the front office will be considered a truancy. When calling in an absence, please state the student's name, teacher, grade and reason for the absence (if illness, please be specific as to type and whether or not the student has a fever). If your child has a fever, he or she must be fever free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school. For the health and safety of all students, there are no exceptions to this rule.

    Homework & Attendance Policy

Homework, if requested on the attendance line before 9:00 a.m., may be picked up in the school office after 3:15 p.m. on the same day. Students will be given time to make up work when they return from their absence and this will be coordinated by the teacher and student.

Under district attendance and excuse policy, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to notify the school of an absence. We urge you to call the school absence line as soon as you are aware of any absences and all absences must be reported prior to 9:00 a.m. the day of the absence. Sonoran Sky has a 24-hour voice mail absence line for reporting absences. The number is 602-449-6501. Please remember that any student whose absences (excused OR unexcused) totals more than 10% or 18 days of the school year and whose absences have affected academic progress may be retained due to the negative effect on the grade and may be cited and reported to the courts (A.R.S. 15-802; A.R.S. 15-803)
