Checking Out Books: The easiest way to find a book is by using the Destiny Discovery website. A student may check out two (2) books per loan period. No books may be checked out if the student has an overdue book or an outstanding bill on a lost or damaged book. Books should be returned to the library as soon as the student has finished using the book. A valid MTMS ID must be presented in order to check out a book. A $3 fee will be charged for a new ID.
Loan Period: The loan period for general circulation is two (2) weeks.
Renewals: There is one renewal per book unless the book has been placed on hold by another student. There are no renewals on overdue books.
Reference Books: For library use only, no checkouts permitted.
Overdue Notices: These are emailed to the student and parents and/or guardians every Sunday. Severe overdue notices (more than 30 days overdue) will require the student to serve lunch detention in the Media Center until the book(s) are returned or paid for.
Lost and/or Damaged Books: If the book cannot be found or repaired, the student will be billed for the replacement cost and the student will not be able to check out further books until their account is clear. At the time of check-out, the student must check the book for any previous damage that has not be documented. Do not “dog-ear” pages; use a bookmark!
Behavior: There is no loud talking in the library. Students with inappropriate behavior or computer use will lose the privilege of using the library/computers for a specific length of time depending on the severity of the infraction.
