    I wanted to highlight the Family Resource Center (PVFRC) this month. It is located at the 
    former Foothills Elementary School at 44th St. and Grovers. Funding for the PVFRC is 
    largely provided by a grant from First Things First (azftf.gov.). There are many classes, 
    activities and services offered including the following: 
    • Food Pantry –a bag of food for a family of four for one week. A referral from a school 
    nurse or social worker is required 
    • CPR and First Aid training – Classes are available for groups, individuals and Spanish 
    speaking families. There is a fee for this class. 
    • English as a Second Language (ESL) classes – Learn how to speak English 
    • AHCCCS assistance – a representative from AHCCCS is available on Fridays by 
    appointment only 
    • Sewing Circle –offered to adults and students 3rd grade and older. Sewing machines 
    are available, bring your own material. This class is free of charge 
    • Mascot Club –A full summer program as well as district recesses during the school 
    year for a fee. 
    • Kith and Kin Project–to strengthen the quality and reliability of childcare provided by 
    friends and family through support and training.

    Fifth Grade Parents

    Students eleven years of age and entering the 6th grade are required to receive two immunizations, a Tdap (protects against diphtheria, tetanus
    and pertussis) and the MCV4 (protects against meningococcal disease). As your child celebrates his/her birthday, please follow up with your health
    care provider and send an updated immunization record to the Nurse’s office. A schedule of free immunization clinics is available in the rack outside the Nurse’s office.
