About Wildfire +

  • We have had a fantastic 2018-2019 school year at Wildfire Elementary School. Our students and staff have experienced and accomplished many great things including being once again recognized as an “A” school by the Arizona Department of Education as well as taking the first steps towards establishing a school-wide STEAM program.

This past year we had numerous teachers and their accomplishments recognized by APS, Fiesta Bowl Charities, the Arizona Republic, and the United Parent Council. We had students break our school’s Accelerated Reader records, a team place 1st in the State in the Stock Market Game, students star in the production of The Lion King and race to the finish line at District Field Day.

Throughout the year, our students and families demonstrated great generosity and passion for helping others by hosting multiple clothing donation and food drives, jumping rope for the American Heart Association, and collecting over 250 stuffed animals to benefit Arizona Helping Hands.

We upgraded our already existing 1:1 student technology by increasing our number of iPads and Chromebooks for students, investing in additional 3D printing technology, digital cameras, and Nintendo Labo. We piloted the new Zearn math program for the district and added multiple additional online support and educational programs.

This summer, with the help of our wonderful PTO, we are looking forward to some great updates and changes to Wildfire with new paint and new carpet being installed school-wide. We are also really looking forward to upgrades to our common areas with new furniture and amenities to help create welcoming meeting and learning spaces for our students, families, and staff to enjoy.

2019-2020 is going be an amazing year at Wildfire Elementary School. We will be fully implementing the Zearn math program in all of our K-5 classrooms as well as the new Arizona Science Standards school-wide. We are also very excited to pilot the STEM:IT curriculum program for the Paradise Valley School District. This will help us move towards our goal of creating a world-class STEAM program and focus at Wildfire Elementary School. In their general education classroom, all students from Pre-K to 6th-grade will engage in the engineering design process and work on developing 21st-century skills through big stand-alone projects as well as embedding the curriculum in daily lessons.
