Parents - Please be aware: Our school day will increase by 30 minutes beginning in the 2012-13 school year. Starting with the first day of school, Aug. 8, 2012, our school start and end times will be 8:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. The addition of these 30 minutes to our school day will support increased student achievement, as Arizona moves more fully to implement and measure achievement on the Common Core Standards. Please feel free to call the school if you need additional information.
Are you interested in being part of our School Council? We are looking for one parent representative and one community representative to be part of this small group that works closely with our principal to advise and guide the school. The group meets once a month before school. Please visit the school council webpage for more information about the Council. A BIG THANK YOU to our amazing families and Community Sponsors we have reached our fundraising goal this year! That means we've been able to give an average of $400 per teacher for classroom supplies, provide $2000 to each grade level for field trips, pay $7500 for the AR program and $5300 for Study Island. Every event makes a difference so thank you for participating when you can because every bit counts toward a better experience for our kids! Grayhawk Elementary honored by The National Center for Educational Achievement as one of Arizona's Higher Performing Schools! This award is given to elementary, middle, and high schools that have consistently outperformed their peers with similar student populations over a three-year period. In addition, Grayhawk has been recognized as one of 13 schools in the state that qualified for the list on all subjects tested! This is only possible through the teamwork of teachers, students, and parents. So congratulations to all for a true commitment to excellence!
Grayhawk is going green with solar energy! Through a Solar Service Agreement with business partners Green Choice Solar and SOLON Corporation, locations throughout the district have added solar panels to capture and use this energy and we are one of those locations! For more information, check out the large information poster in the school lobby or visit the district site.

Weekly School News: All school and district flyers can be found under the Thursday Folder section of the website. Go to "links" and "thursday folder" and then click on the dated folder. You can also access that link from the "quick links" section right here on the front page. Additionally, Grayhawk PTO sends an all-school electronic newsletter called eNews every Thursday with information about what is going on at the school that coming week. The eNews also includes a direct link to the thursday folder for the upcoming week. To sign up for eNews just click the button at the bottom of this page.
