AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID is a program for Grades 5 through 12 that prepares students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility. It has a proven track record of closing the achievement gap. AVID targets B, C, and D students who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard. These are students who are capable of completing rigorous curriculum but are falling short of their potential. AVID puts these students on the college track with acceleration instead of remediation.

FLITE - Foreign Language Immersion and Teaching Experience

Learning a second language at an early age can have long-term educational benefits for students. Moreover, research has shown that immersion is the most effective way to learn a language. At Sandpiper Elementary School students participate in a partial immersion program (FLITE) where English-speaking students spend half of the instructional school day learning subjects in Spanish and the other half learning in English.

High School Signature Programs
The Signature Program, consisting of specialized and highly focused areas of study, provides a unique opportunity for our high school students to pursue academic excellence through a thematic emphasis. By offering courses which would be cost-prohibitive at each individual campus and locating all students who have interest in a theme at one site, we are able to expand our curriculum significantlly. After careful analysis of student and parent interest, these program themes were selected by the staffs at each high school. For additional information: View High School Course Catalog.
