School performance and school labels

PV Schools school labels for 2011-12 include 20 Excelling and six Highly Performing schools under the state’s legacy system. Under the new A-F system, there are 16 schools with an A and 19 schools with a B.

The labeling system provides a way to consider school performance data, but represents only one measure of achievement. The district considers AIMS test results, graduation rates and student achievement growth over time to be important measures, and will continue to use this data for continuous improvement.

Equally important measures of progress are those uniquely associated with your child. At PV Schools, we partner with parents to monitor individual achievement and progress, and to provide a student-centered learning environment that addresses each child’s needs.

The Arizona Department of Education will maintain the legacy labels alongside the new letter grade system for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years. In 2013, only the A-F labels will be used. The two systems use different criteria to assess performance, and cannot be compared.
